This may not be the correct place to ask this question but I will ask anyway.

The European Machinery Directive (EMD) clearly states machine safety guidelines for Europe. I'm trying to locate a clear machine safety guideline for the USA. Any idea where I can locate one on the Internet?

Good luck. If you find one let everyone else know. best I can tell there is a lot of "you must make the thing safe" directives from various safety agencies but nothing that gives you much in the way of direction, or any consistent way of knowing you have met their requirements.

Yea. That's what I thought based on the research I did. Thanks for the feedback.

Re: Machine Safety Guidelines

Some excellent sources for information on safety requirements for machinery can be found in/at:

The NPFA 79 "Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery"

ANSI B11.19 - Safegaurding When Referenced byt he Other B11 Machine Tool Safety Standards.....

ANSI B11.20 - Manufacturing Systems/Cells - Safety Requirements ....

Publications and catalogs by manufacturers of safety components like:

Allen-Bradley / Rockwell "Safety" publication S114-CA001A-EN-P

Banner Engineering "Machine Safety Products" p/n 20005

and lots more......
