Machine shop wiring..

I looked at a job today where the EC started the work.. got a deposit and never came back.. :happysad:

These machines are from the 30's and 40's.. with any name plate long gone or covered in grease..

He had 1900 boxes above each machine with #10 and 3-pole 30A breaker controlling the circuit..

There were (6) machines per run.. both single and 3- phase..

His plan was to drop a SO cord per machine and use existing T/L caps..

Does this sound like the right way to do this job..
 
I would envision a few potential problems: (a) It's doubtful 30 amps would be correct for every machine (b) 6 machines to a conduit run could lead to derating problems, (c) box fill.................

It all depends. If they know him and can get their hands on him it may not work out so well but if he is from out of town and just passing through, well, it's a plan.

Actually it sound like a BS story I have herd several times before and I would be carefull with this one. Even if the customer has been burned they will try to make up for it with the next guy. :slaphead:
