A technique for transitioning between two different wiring methods, for example MC to EMT, is to join two fittings with a rigid coupler.
This has been discussed before, eg: https://forums.mikeholt.com/threads/transition-from-mc-cable-to-emt.129283/ and I'm sure I remember an article in EC+M magazine.
The general consensus is that 'this works but is a violation because the rigid coupler female threads are not tested to work properly with the fitting locknut threads'.
I just came across a manufacturer who claims that their rigid couplers can be used in exactly this fashion.
The language is not clear; I am not sure if they are sayng they have a special thread design that makes this kosher, or if they are simply naming a common use which is not technically correct.
Anyone have an idea on this?
Thanks
Jon

Orbit Industries’ threaded couplings are used to join two ends of threaded rigid conduits or IMC conduits together. They can also be used with chase nipples and connectors to bond threaded conduits to electrical junction boxes or enclosures. Orbit Industries’ have versatile threaded design works and they are all standard threaded couplings. With related threaded connectors, these couplings are often used to convert flexible metal conduits to EMT thinwall, rigid conduit, and liquid tight conduits etc
