Does anyone know where can I get info on this dimmers? How they work? Why it is not recommended to use a regular dimmer on LV lights with magnetic transformers? Any info would be really appreciated. Thanks

Re: Magnetic and Electronic Dimmers

There are dimmers that are rated for dimming LV lighting systems. And many manufactures do produce UL listed power supply's that are dimmer capable. even electronic versions. Check the manufacture of LV systems web site. Lu-tron, Leviton, and P&S all make LV dimmers.

Edited to add that standard dimmers vary the frequency to give the dimming effect. a transformer will heat up when run out of the designed frequency.
