I do not have any expieriance with maintenance switches but my question [ to ever can answer them ] would there be a requirement for a energized permit to work on the equipment the MS are used on ? These MS would not protect against shock so I can't see how someone would be permitted to work on it. Am I missing some thing with this ?
Thanks to anyone for their time with this post.

Maintenance switches are simply a switch used to enable a trip curve similar to an INST trip that is used to reduce (Not eliminate) arc flash hazards downstream of that protective device. Has nothing to do with shock hazards. EEWP requirements will depend on the hazards and type of work being done so you will need to be more specific to get an answer.
