Sometimes manhole is used for ourdoor ductbank and sometimes handhole is used. Do you know when to use manhole/handhole? and why? I know they are different in size. Thanks.

the answer come down to what your trying to accomplish. your talking about placing a transformer sub surface, man hole would do. splice together together MV cable eg 25KV most are done in a man hole. its a design issue.

How do you define if the handhole isn't big enough? Can you give an example?
I have one set of electrical drawing designed by LEO A DAILY. They specified a huge manhole with 6 feet (W) x 8 feet (L) x 7 feet (D) for site primary service. I don't know why they need that huge manhole to pull the cable. Is there any design guide or code requirement for manhole or handhole based on cable size and distance? Thanks.

What is the primary voltage, type and size of cable, number of ducts?

Are you sure they mean feet, (')? Maybe they mean inches, (")?
