Where does one look to find info on your market. Do I look at census figures, number of permits, are there reports by the goverment. I want to know what indicators others look at to tell if a market is expanding or shrinking.

Most cities and counties publish annual comprehensive development plans that outline projects and work expected to take place during the next year. Our city for example, has a monthly Development Review Committee that meets and is opening to the public. They review all the new projects expected to begin witin the next month.

One other trick is to call the competition to see how busy they are and how fast they responding to potential bids and/or daily work.
