Looking for a masonry extension ring. Single gang 1.5 inch deep....

Best I could come up with is a 1.5 inch deep handy box extension ring

Hubbell-Raco 653 1-1/2-Inch Deep Handy Box Extension, Welded

Feedback is appreciated

I hope those prices are for a case of 10 (or more).

Given that retail for the part # you gave is over $5 ea on Amazon, and $12 on Platt, they probably are not case prices. What's wrong with the 653?

You'd probably have more options if you were looking for mudrings for 2 gang boxes. If you can't get all the way to the face of the block, you can use these as well:

with long screws thru the device to reach the threads of the recessed box.

I think they are closer to $2 ea in BB stores.

I've never used a masonry extension ring. What is the purpose of it? If it's to bring the face of a box buried inside a block to the surface, wouldn't a mud ring work? That's what I use for that purpose. Of course, you have to use 4x4 boxes inside the block. Sounds like maybe you are using something else.

If you read in the specs for the linked boxes it shows "package of 5".
So that is not that bad, around $4 per box.

$4 for that plastic extension is twice what an adjustable single gang box would have cost in the first place. Zip it flush with the wall, forget using long screws and those "oops, I messed up" extensions.

"Just duct tape it to keep cement out?"

I was thinking this was for an existing install rather than new. I dunno if there is anything better...dont see why duct tape wouldnt work tho.

A single gang masonry box is installed in a kick plate of a stairwell...it is sitting back and 1-3/4 or there of...I need being the box out flush with block. Thinking a handy box extension ring might work.

On a non-flammable surface, you are allowed 1/4" setback, and if you've more than that, the plastic ring I linked will bring it up to code.

Here's a 1 7/8" handy box extension:
