Some of you MA guys may know this but our Supreme court has ruled against Springfield's requirement for installing a radio master box in that city.
So moving forward realize all you have to do is comply with the state building codes which provides four options for fire signalling.
All the cities and towns which now require specific radio style boxes are going to have to stop doing so.
Here is a web page with details.

There are links on that page that let you watch the oral arguments presented to the state supreme court and the cities argument is ridiculous. The city tries to claim that they are not going beyond the building code to allow one of only four of the state allowed methods.
Anyway this will likely change things in the future during new construction.
