Master Exam

Im going for the master exam soon, I just found this site "AGAIN" and wanted to say hello!! Ima Jernee-mun lektrishun in south texas.

LOL (ok thats enough of the slang)

I havent been keeping up with the code except as my CE requirements provide. (Yes I follow the code when I am working).

I have lost the ability to cite code sections etc, and I am going to have to polish up though. I am taking the ICC master exam in the summer. I noticed that the exam is 5 hours now (ICC) whereas 2 years ago I took it and it was 8 hours (two parts closed book). I made a 72.3% 2 years ago and never went back because of life situations etc. [master exam was required to have a 75% to pass (still does I think)]

Is the 5hr 2005 Master exam (ICC) still pretty easy?
BTW Hello to all.

Re: Master Exam

Best wishes on your examination results. I am a bit disillussioned with the State of Texas and the joke their license has become with the most recent reopening of the grandfather clause, seems as though anyone who can produce master level hours of work and say they do not work or live in a municipal area, gets a masters license no NEC required except for renewal, 4 hours in class , no need to be awake..

Re: Master Exam

They closed the grandfathering Dec 31, 2005...so it will be no more. Of course, you do have all those who have already attained a master's this way.

Take care,

Re: Master Exam

Oops...I did not finish my post. I was going to say that I could have attained a master's the same way that you mentioned as my dad holds/held a Dallas Master's license even though he was not in that region and I have over 12 years (or 24,000 hours to Texas) working with him...until I decided to become an inspector, but that is another story :)

I wanted, however, to take the test.

Take care.

Re: Master Exam

Good luck on the test guys. Having successfully passed the masters exam here in Texas, I can recommend that you study. Know your code sections and how to reference quickly, five hours will go by FAST. There are some calculations, and plan analysis is kind of tricky.
