I live in NC and I got my license under the 96 nec, I passed the unlimited exam. I maintain a limited license (no need to pay for the unlimited).

Is a "Masters exam" the same thing as a NC Unlimited exam, or is it something else?

I don't think we have a masters classification in NC

Thanks
Travis

I think in most peoples eyes, a master is pretty much the same as what many states call a electrical contractor as far as technical skill achievement. NC is like many states that don't have a "master" classification. A few that come to mind, in addition to NC, are FL, SD and NE. One difference though is that in most states that have a master classification, that alone does not allow you to contract. For example here in CO you become a master, then simply register to become a contractor-but you must be a master first. There are all manner of electrical licensing schemes amoung the states.

That's how it is in Florida.
