Hi everyone

I am from Michigan and have my Journeyman’s license. In Michigan, you need a total of 12,000 in order to become a Master and 2 years as a journeyman. I had 10,000 hours an an apprentice so I got my other 2,000 my first year as a journeyman. I have my full 12,000 hours but still have to wait a year. Technically speaking, could I quit my job now if I wanted to and just wait a year since I have all my hours? And then take my Masters? Or is it required that I have 4,000 hours as a journeyman and not just two years? LARA website doesn’t say I need 4,000 hours as a journeyman, it just says that I need 2 years as a journeyman and 12,000 hours total to become a master. My only fear is that the licensing department won’t understand this and require me to do 4,000 hours as a journeyman instead of recognizing that that it’s ok that I only have 2,000 hours as a journeyman as long as I waited my two years and have 12,000 hours total. Can anyone relate to this and have any advice? Thank you all

I would not think so. you say that you have to have 2 years as a Journeyman. You say you only have one….quitting for a year is not going to get you another year as a Journeyman. I would contact the Electrical licensing department where you are trying to get licensed and let them tell you what they will accept. I wouldn’t quit for a year if I could. There are always plenty of new things to learn.
