whats the price??

whats the price??

thanks everyone, now, here's the question:

Do you have to jump companies to make good money?

My current employer has known me since I didn't know jack, and i dont think he plans on payin me anymore now that I passed this test. I feel like it should be worth something. Should I shop around? Anyone else run into the same situation?

Shop around, you'll go far. Never stop CEU's, never settle for less, rise to the top. In the electrical field, you'll never come to know it all. Keep striving to learn another angle, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, management, on and on and on. Always strive for another step further.

We're happy for you Sidd. Never, ever settle for less than what you are willing to learn:smile:

So, I figure if I show them what Company B will pay me without even knowing how hard I work, just by my "credentials", and I would hope that Company A (whom I work for) would at least match that, seeing that they already know how hard I work (i know, i know, we all work hard right?)

Everyone has pretty much told me that I have to jump ship to make money, if not, i'll be stuck w/ 3% - 5% raise /yr never gettin the big jumps for my accomplishments.

I'll sell it buddy, ..... now, how can i do that....

How good are you with resumes and personal impression? If I stay where I am now, I'll be in the same spot 3 years from now. I am constantly looking. If you are stuck, you may stay stuck. Just keep the eyes and options open. You want to stay with 3-5% every year from now where you are at? I see you are the lead hand. You're the lead hand for a reason, never forget that, and never hold an ego. There is always more to learn, and there will always be someone else who truly appreciates you for your knowledge and ethic.
Never slack, stay on top, you'll go far.

FWIW, some ECs don't want their employees to get to be Masters.... that makes them too close to being their competition.

You're just a few steps away from that... get some liability insurance, a contractors' license and you're ready to go.....

As for jumping ship, that's a question only you can answer. We can give you advice and ideas, but the decision is yours and yours alone.

Keep this in mind: The boss will always do what's best for him. YOU need to do what's best for YOU.
