Stupid question I think I have gone brain dead........

How do I figure the difference in the cost to use a 60 Watt - 12 volt lamp as compared to a 60 Watt - 120 volt lamp? I had a customer ask me this....thanks in advance for any help.

60 Watts = 60 Watts (same amount of power)

Thanks............That was my initial answer but the more I thought about I began to question it myself.

I question myself all the time....

Although you may be able to get .....say.....a 32 Watt CFL that produces the equivalent amount of light as a 60 Watt Incandescent.Same amount of light but less power used.... (just me thinking out loud)

A 12v transformer will have some inherent loss. You really should compare the output of the lamps. Depending on the lamp type you may need more lamps for one voltage system to get the same amount of light as the other voltage system.
