Max # of circuits

Is there a maximum # of circuits allowed to be run off of a 200 amp service?

Please keep in mind 2 things before you answer.

1. I'm not asking about max # of circuits allowed in a single panel (each specific panel tells me how many circuits it's listed for).

2. I'm not asking anything having to do with load calculations.

Is it true that as long as my load calculation remains acceptable, theoretically, I could add sub-panel after sub-panel, after sub-panel????
