Maximum GF pickup 1200A

Hello,

I was reading GF protection in NEC section 230.95(A) where it says the maximum setting of the GF protection shall be 1200A.

Can anyone explain me the reason behind this restriction?

Thanks agie...but i think it doesnt explain why it is set at 1200A...Although they have a blanket statement saying the more you allow the fault current to flow into a system the more damage you are gonna cause... they are citing the NEC reference but didnt explain why it needs to be set at 1200A...
