Maximum size conductor that can be spliced with wirenut

What is the maximum size conductor that can be spliced with a wirenut?
For some reason remember reading that it was #8, but I can't find it in my code book. Does anyone know what section it is?

I looked on a box of the 3m brand blue wirenuts today and it said max size 2- #6's.

It depends on the wire nut. If the manufacture says 2 #6 then that is what is allowed.

I have not seen any for larger than 2-#6s

I've fit way more than that into a big blue wire nut.
