I am confused on NEC requirement for maximum number of 12GA wires going through a 1/2 inch PVC tee. Per NEC, there can only be 4 12GA wires going through a 1/2 inch PVC pipe, but in using the T, I want to have 3 wires coming in and out 2 ends and 2 wires going out the third end. (The third leg is basically connected to a switch that connects/disconnects line voltage from one of the other ends.) I can't determine if this is per code or not.

I don't quite follow your description. What kind of installation is this (i.e., what type of equipment is being served), what kind of facility is this (i.e., dwelling unit, commercial, etc.), and what is your role (i.e., are you designing it, or have you come across it in an existing building)?

If I understand correctly, you basically have a run of conduit and have a Tee dropping down to a switch.

If that is the case and you are not splicing in the tee, it should be okay.
