Here is a link to a spec sheet for some new cable that we are looking at using.

This cable is installed with the grounding conductor cut short and pealed back like BX cable. It can be terminated like regular MC, but the grounding conductor is AL and would pose some issues with wire nuts and dissimilar metals under certian installations in the field. It also then defeats the savings the manufacturer touts.

The code question arises around terminating the connector into a box with concentric (or is it eccentric) knock outs.

Is this installation still approved? (bonding and grounding concerns) Is there a voltage stipulation, 250v or 277v?

Many of these connectors are the snap in style and might pose more issues. See Arlingtons web page on the connectors. http://www.aifittings.com/whnew87.htm

I thought that this was addressed somewhere in the code? But 250.97 is the only place I can seem to find it.

From what I've heard this is simply an MC version of AC cable. The metallic jacket with the AL strip qualifies as the EGC. The strip does not get terminated. Regarding 250.97, this section would apply to this or any other cable or raceway where the metallic raceway or jacket is used as an EGC. From the way these guys are marketing this stuff it sounds like their aim is replace the use of type AC cable altogether. Snap in connectors must be used within their listing. It they are not permitted for bonding or grounding over 250 volts they will be listed as such.

Mike, if you follow the links on that page about fittings (Arlington and T&B) and boxes (T&B only), an inspector could cite you for using this cable with any unlisted items.
