MC cable - Can we use it in Plenum

Is MC cable plenum rated or can be used in plenum? Our contractor said that he use in the plenum space all the time, but I am not sure... NEC doesn't state whether it can be used in the plenum or not......

Sure it does, take a look at 300.22

Also make sure your taking about a 'true' plenum, the space above a suspended ceiling used for the return air is not considered by the NEC to be a plenum. The NEC considers this space "Other Space Used for Environmental Air". ( 300.22(C) )

That said MC is allowed in 'Other Space Used for Environmental Air and directly inside duct work. ( 300.22(B) )
