mc cable in exhaust duct

I have a situation where a house was roughed in 'per specs' for downdraft located in an island in the middle of kitchen. Its time to trim and they gave the wrong information for the rough, turns out the fan for down draft is now mounted remotely "downstairs in basement". Was wondering if its a code violation to run mc cable down the exhaust duct where they will be cutting in and adding the fan. 330 states not to be embedded in concrete or used in destructive corrosive enviroments. Can this legally be done or would I have to use the rubber coated mc cable?

the basement is 2 floors down, I'm just trying to figure a way to do this without some major sheetrock repair.

Did they box the duct work in? follow along the outside of the duct, and personally, its not your problem anymore how you get power to it... Not your fault, not your problem. You can only offer the easiest solution. Even if it does involve cutting holes...

Unfortunately the duct is run in the ceiling of the lower floor, over about 10 foot then drops down a wall to the basement. Im not even sure I could get the wire fished down the duct but would like to know if it is an option 'code compliant". I have worked on restaurant exhaust fans and have seen how greasy and nasty they get but am thinking downdraft in a dwelling wouldnt get that bad.

Is there anything in 330.112 that requires the conductors to be grease and oil resistant?

If OP was to try this, how would he enter and exit the duct? What about the mechanical inspector?

What is the ambient temp in the duct?

IMO a bad idea.

thanks for the replys,
I agree it isnt a good idea, and have never done an install like this before. I wanted to get some other opinions because the general uses other elect contractors and am sure he will ask one of them If I really had to cut his finished rock or if I could have run it in the duct.
And thanks for the thought about the mechanical inspector, didnt think of that one.
I will run it past the ahj on monday and then let my boss make the call depending on what the ahj has to say.
again thanks for the replys
