MC cable penetration drywall vs top of metal stud

I had one of the guys install MC cable through finished drywall to jump out receptacles. I would have drilled on top of every metal stud and run the MC cable that way. However, he instead cut away the Sheetrock below each stud and chased the MC cable down. This is a commercial office space that is undergoing renovations, and will get drop ceiling installed. I am aware that the inspector is extremely strict, which I have no problem with. I just want to know if there is a code violation. Thanks

So unless the wall is fire rated and needs to be patched there is no issue with making a hole (which I'm assuming is below the top track for the metal stud wall) to allow the cable to be fished.

Depending on the wall this is the norm. Bend radius on some bigger mc needs it as does conduit.
