Eh, sounds petty to me unless what ever you used was really flimsy. MC staples are not required to be listed.

What did you use?

330.30 Securing and Supporting.
(A) General. Type MC cable shall be supported and secured
by staples, cable ties, straps, hangers, or similar fittings
or other approved means designed and installed so as
not to damage the cable.

I have seen MC and 3/8" flex supported by metal one hole clips that look similar to one EMT clips but smaller.
I typically use everything from romex staples to tywraps with the eyelets.
The T-75 staple gun with 7/8" staples holds well in lot of applications.

These are from the Gardener Bender site.

I don't see any difference between the two except the blue plastic piece and the description is worded differently, yet the blue one is rated for MC, AC & UF cable. Go figure!!!

I have always used the regular type without the plastic piece for all of my cable installations without any issues or inspector hassle.

Staples

In reply to what staples did I use; They are the standard two nail plastic staples sold at most supply houses. The label says rated for NM and NMB

The plastic piece prevents over-driving the staple and that's probably why it's rated for MC and AC vs the second staple.

eta: I have seen those before, just never used them on MC. Most places we install MC have steel stud so stapling isnt an option. You'll find very little MC run in wood framed buildings here.
