Is MC cable permitted to pass through a class I div 1 location? I believe it is only permissible in a class I div 2 location, and that for class I div 1 wiring has to be ran in rigid or intermediate conduit..

Class I, Division 1 wiring methods are not limited to RMC or IMC.

Is most MC-HL cable rated for Class I Division 1 locations?

All Type MC-HL is rated for Class I, Division 1. NOT all Type MC is MC-HL though; it is a very specific construction.
