installing mc cable using short piece of rnc to ridgid 90 from ceiling box in concrete, using gal coupling and mc conn. ahj says this is violatation and needs access door at the conn with the 90 citing 300.15 any ideas

type ac cable needs inspection for antishort .type mc does not need antishort therefore no need for access, and def of fitting is locknut or bushing

AC and MC are cable types. FMC, as a conduit, is made to have the wires pulled after installation, and 90-deg connectors can't be fished and pulled.

If you are talking about this type of installation

At the Eastern Section IAEI meeting, we talked about this fitting at the UL portion of the meeting. It was stated that this is permitted and also permitted to be installed concealed by construction, such as sheetrock walls/ceilings.

It is my understanding that the discussions at the UL meetings for each section meeting will be posted on the UL site soon for all to download.

yes but why would you need accessability to a listed fitting
Is it listed to be buried?
the same way a conduit coupling is listed to be buried ?
A straight FMC connector and a coupling can be pulled through without access.

Can the same be said about a 90-degree FMC fitting? I think not. (poof!)

type ac cable conn needs to be left accessible for inspecton of the antishort bushing. type mc cable does not need an antishort bushing therefore accessibility not required

Ya think?

My book says something a little bit different:
Fitting.
An accessory such as a locknut, bushing, or other part of a wiring system that is intended primarily to perform a mechanical rather than an electrical function.

It's got nothing to do with the anti-short.

My idea?
Run the RNC to the JB that also needs to be accessible.

in type ac very specific referance to 300.15 type mc no referance .

a mouse trap for wiremold yes conn for mc no 90 for sealtight yes straight conn for sealtight no is this a pattern??
