Cables are permitted to have the white conductor re-identified. You should be okay.

MC is also available with BOY conductor colors as well as the outer jacket having BOY paint every so often. You may be able to buy it by the foot at a good supply house.

I've never seen a supply house sell any MC cable by the foot. I have seen one place sell "remnants", apparently factory scraps. Small rolls tagged as 100 ft, 150, 75, etc. Or maybe they were good pieces from full rolls that were somehow damaged in handling. Big box stores have it in 25, 50, 100 ft lengths & sometimes full 250 ft rolls. Maybe other lengths too.
When I used to run a lot of MC in office buildings, I tried to always mark the jacket, especially if 277. I didn't do any 480 apps with MC. I marked the jacket with phase tape near the ends and about every 10 ft or so. Helped if one had to be tracked out later. At the time, I hadn't seen any at supply houses with factory markings. Began seeing that later.
