Was perusing article 330, and uses permitted states "in any raceway". Aside from a sleeve through a floor or fire-wall, when, where and why would MC be installed in a "raceway"?

I picture a 3/4" EMT stub up from an outlet box transitioning to MC, but that would in fact require the appropriate fitting to make that transition, not necessarily MC installed in a raceway...

Any thoughts?

You could run it into a J Box, conduit, J and back out perhaps this is for fire alarm where you need separation from power but want to share a conduit thru a fire wall.

There is no problem running MC Cable in Raceway in terms of Article 330. However, the issues that present itself in Section 312.5(C) and 314.17(B) become problems to overcome. Not to mention the provisions of securing and supporting in Section 330.30(B). But if you can get around those.....have at it.

Sleeving for protection from physical damage is normal and stopping just short of the enclosure or junction box in order to comply with the aforementioned requirements is acceptable.
