MC in stud walls

330.30 Securing and Supporting. (C) At Terminations
MC in stud walls. Leaving a 4/S box from the side and running horizontal thru a hole with in 12 inches, would the MC be considered secured?

330.30(A) has the answer:

"...shall be considered supported and secured..."

I usually go up/down a bit, get a strap on then proceed to the hole though.

Yes it is secured when passing through a stud,never understood that one from a practical point of view

Reading the notes in the 2002 NEC Handbook 330.30 (A) ?However, the MC cable must be secured (fastened in place) with in 12 inches of the outlet box.? I would think there would have to be a strap.
