MC through stud bay return

Have read 330.22, but curious on something.

Is MC (something like Armorlite) permitted to run the length of a (cold air) stud bay return?

Yes. However I don't see that 330.22 exists

The code reference is 300.22(C). What is says is that the wiring method used in a plenum must be listed for use in plenums. Cables that are run perpendicular to the long dimension of the space are not required to be so listed. That would include NM cable.

300.22(C)(1) specifically allows MC cable without an overall outer nonmetallic covering to be used in environmental air spaces.
