I don't have a tonne of experience dealing with troubleshooting ground faults. My instict tells me to divide and conquer the loads to narrow down the culpret.
oil field battery site
480V 3PH power MCC shows 1.2 warning on the ground fault monitor
I cycled loads and narrowed it down to
a 450HP 3Ph motor driven by a toshiba drive
-are there any guidelines to the tolerances of these ground fault readings , obviously we are trying to maintain zero reading but this motor will still run?
The Drive was programmed by the vendor I am ASSuming that the drive would pick up the ground fault if it was in the motor.
Do I megger motor to rule it out, or is there something else.
The motor is still running overnight with scada monitoring, vendor is coming out the next day to site.
I guess what I'm asking is do any of you have any advise on how to rule out whether it is motor or VFD settings issue? Operations asking is it OK to run this until tech comes out the next day. I went to management and they said run it , but I was not 100% confident with that decision.
