I am working on an existing project where I am designing new 480V MCC being fed from existing 480V switchgear inside Electrical room. the MCC and SWGR are not in the same building. My question is, what does the code say about the MCC incomer.
my preliminary design shwos a Circuit breaker with trip unit inside Swichtgear protecting the MCC conductor. As for the MCC incomer I designed a disconnect only. the doubt I have in mind is do i need to install redundant Circuit breaker as MCC incomer? It doesnt make sense to me to put redundant cicuit breaker.
I appreciate your feedback.

You are not required to have it, unless the AHJ considers the other building entry a new Service, in which case your disconnect would need an SUSE label and most MCC mfrs will only apply an SUSE label to a CB or fused disconnect. I've had that happen, can't explain why he thought so, but arguing with a AHJ is just setting yourself up for a lot of trouble sometimes. You might want to ask that in advance.
