Meaning

I would guess a piece of equipment. There is probably a chart somewhere that will tell you what each one is.

Who knows how they came up with the designation.

No, there is not a page with symbols attached. There, at the left side is the transfer switch to the Generator and because this is a high-rise with so many sub-panels I assume those symbols represent some panels, hope I can find the meaning, I will try to expand the photo of the print.

Someone said those are "engineer term on drawing" but I don't understand the meaning as they start with X, BB, BA, BC ... I know they are panel, but I don't think they are "numbered" the Bs have to have some meaning

Contact the person who did the drawings. It is their duty to convey intent and they obviously failed if they did not include a legend. The more calls they get, the better job they will do going forward. Another possibility is that you did not receive a complete set of drawings, and they will provide those sheets if you call.

B for boy?

I still don't understand the question, I run into panel 'names' I don't understand all the time.

Agree that the B has some meaning, but it doesn't have to have meaning to you. There is often some form of logic to the designer, many times it will elude the installer. B, fore example, could stand for basement, or the second floor, or the second system, building 2 or "B" etc. X could be nothing more than this engineer's standard designator for a lighting panel, or it could be a life safety panel. With a full set of plans it is sometimes possible to guess, but usually unnecessary unless you are planning on adding or redesigning.

Let's back up a little bit.

What's your involvement here?
Sounds like you said it's an existing high-rise which means you're not bidding new construction.
Are you trying to locate something? Repair? Replace something? Diagnose something? Add something and you need to know where you can connect it?

And if existing all those panels may already be in place and are already named as on the plans, to find out why those names were used may mean going back to original designer.

I have seen this type of designations before, I believe the name refers to what is feeding the high voltage feed. The facility is probably feed with 2 incoming feeds from the utility. i.e. feeder A and feeder B. As fore the X it most likely is an emergency feeder...that one is just a guess. This is just an observation...let me know what find out.

My senile mind don't recognize X, BB, BA, BC ... any help?

Lets assume -- notice 400 Amp transfer switch - load out 3-3/0 & 1- 1/0 -- 220.61(B)(2) I am assuming 3 phase due to the 4- 2# in the 1 1/4" conduit -- I can only assume the max load is 150A

Looks like a single line riser diagram to me. But without more of the prints it is meaningless unless already installed. We do know some wire sizes but that won't do much good
