They also had alot of assorted attachments that they used, (caddie comes to mind) the like attachments held in by a mushroom bolt and threaded to the plate as shown. It was tight and a very clear looking application.

could you mount the detector down where you want it, and pump the emissions down to the sensor through some sort of tubing?

I believe EPA does not allow that. Otherwise this would be the best solution, even if you have to heat trace the sample tubing.

One of our customers did this with EPA blessing. But the sample tubing did have to be heated and that was pricey. But there was no real option, as I can't think of a practical way to put a GC up on a smoke stack.
