when we wire a furnace in a basement, we install a thermal cut off switch. my first question is: do we really need it? is it code requered? my second question is:what is requered in a mechanical room where we are going to install five boilers an four water heaters?.

What is a thermal cut off switch?
Are you talking about a emergency cut off for a oil fired furnace? I havent install one of those in a while.
