517.30 (3) The wiring of the emergency system in hospitals shall be mechanically protected. Where installed as branch circuits in patient care areas, the installation shall comply with the requirements of 517.12 (A) and (B). The following wiring methods shall be permitted:
(1) non-flexible metal raceways, etc, etc

A few questions here....

This is a nursing home...

1. The following wiring methods shall be permitted (1) Non-flexible metal raceways... This is saying shall be permitted, which does not mean that I must install in this manor yes, no..... If I use MC Cable and it complies with requirements of 517.12 (A) and (B) is this acceptable?

What is considered an emergency system in a nursing home verses an equipment system? What is emergency lighting, receptacles, etc, etc.

Last but not least...

517.10 (B) Not Covered
(2)
Areas of nursing homes and limited care facilities wired in accordance with chapters 1-4 of this code where used exclusively as patient sleeping rooms

What is typical considered patient sleeping rooms? If there is a TV in the room, is it still considered a sleeping room. If they consider the patient rooms as exclusively as patient sleeping rooms does any of requirements of 517 apply except 517 (A) and (B)

I am trying my best to get out of running hard conduit for the circuits off the generator, is this possible in a nurse call setting?

Thank you
