Media Access

I have a customer whos home I'm wiring and he asked me for media access in the bedrooms. Is this RG6 Quad and a cat6 jack? Any input?
Traditionally, that means two coaxes and two CAT-5's, but I'm not a believe in a one-size-fits-all kind of system. It depends on what he wants; one four-outlet box and plate per room may be too much or too little.

Will the TV source be an antenna, cable, satellite, or a possible combination? What about phones, computer networking, audio and video distribution, in-wall and outdoor speakers, etc. Every job and customer are different.

I recommend a room-by-room layout plan. Also, quad-shielded coax is overkill for all but the most interference-prone of locations. The only true future-proof installation would be a conduit to each outlet location.

Central vacuum tube is a lot more cost effective, and gives you a 2" smooth tube for pulling cables through. We install 2 - 2" Central vac tubes from attic to basement, 1 for the cables being installed and 1 for future use. Then I use a 3/4" emt stub into the attic / basement with a plastic pipe collar, nailed to a stud. Very cheap and allows easy access for cables anywhere.

Which section in Chapter 3 covers using vacuum tube as a raceway?

To the OP: Ask the owner what they want. "Media acess" doesn't mean a lot. Larry's post is otm.

I didn't mean to imply that it's the actual vacuum system. Only that you can use the same tubes that they use for the vacuum system for a cable conduit.
If it's allowed by code for central vacuum systems, then obviously it's allowed in the wall cavities. If the inspector says anything, put pipe caps on them.
