I have medical center which has critical branch, equipment branch and life and safety branch.

Question would critical branch have to comply with NEC 2017 Article 700? I dont see anything in NEC 2017 Article 517 about that.
 
Article 700 does not apply. The Critical Branch has to be installed per Part III of 517, 517.33explains it.
 
Roger must have been relying on memory, because he is close. It is actually 517.31 Essential systems that you need to refer to for the basics. There is other information sprinkled throughout regarding design, etc. And it is all addressed in NFPA 99 also.
