Anybody ever heard of such a thing? The application is for a mammography machine?

I specified a 30A-2P breaker with a shunt trip. Contractor wants to know if it needs to be a medical grade shunt trip???

No such thing. Might he be asking about a clean room type enclosure?

I wonder if he's really referring to the sensing equipment that will trip the shunt.

(The customer, not Mike.)

I'll never be an engineer. I wouldn't be able to resist the urge to tell him that it definitely needs to be a medical grade shunt trip just to enjoy the ensuing wild goose chase.

There are 'Medical grade" GFCI, they sense any current on the EGC as well

as the normal imbalance. Is this shunt on a GFCI circuit?
