Medium Voltage Cable Acceptance Testing

Does anyone have an opinion on what test is best to require on medium voltage cables (AC hipot, DC hipot, VLF, etc.)? Is IEEE 400 the go to standard for field testing MV cable?

VLF Tan Delta is what we specify

A lot of customers still seem to spec DC hipot, and most manufacturers have guidelines for that, so we defer to them.Otherwise we'll do a VLF hipot. Very rare for us to see someone want tan delta on a cable.

Is it because of the value added or lack thereof ..... or the cost .... or do you know why?
