I have type T fuses in a Service rated transfer switch. My AIC rating is 65,000, however, they do not make a 65,000 AIC fuse in type T. Can I put bussing in place of the Type T fuses and put fuse blocks with type J fuses on the load side in order to meet my AIC rating. Both the normal side and emergency side are now fused. It is a 400 amp transfer switch. The normal side has oc protection @ 200 amp, the emergency side will be fed from a portable generator, with quick connect terminals.

Bob, it's also rated @ 65,000

I believe Bob was asking what the available fault current actually is. If this is a service rated transfer switch, your POCO can give you a rough idea.

Thats correct. khtelect, the actual fault may not be 65,000 amps. It may be
something much less. As Cris said, check with the utility and get the correct figure.
