Okay. I see a lot of talk here about meggers. "I used it for this. I used it for that." So, for the past couple of weeks, I have been asking around here to see is any other guys use them. Or know how to use them. Nada, zero, zilch. I feel like I'm in a vacuum as far as meggers go.

I've been thinking about buying one. But, I haven't got a clue what I would use one for. Could you all give me some situations or scenarios where you have used them to your benefit.

Heck, I'd buy one just to have a new tool.:D

its the same around here where i work. i mention the use of a megger and i get laughed at and yelled at and looked at like im retarded for using such a weird tool for common problems:D dont matter what anyone else thinks i still trust mine with my life

have you ever pulled large wire for a feeder or service. If you have didn't you at least use the megger to check for any skins in the jacket or did you wait and do a smoke test on a 800a switch.

Thanks to all of you for the responses. Brian's article is great! Would you believe, I have never seen wire pulls tested? Amazing! Even the POCO's. You'd think they would do that. Thanks again!
