We are looking to use Meltric switch-rated connectors for some 3-phase motors on an industrial installation. don't think there are any issues with these since they're CSA-rated, etc. but what about free working space requirements? I don't think it's required since the connectors themselves are dead front so they really don't need to be treated any differently than a standard receptacle?

The reason I'm asking is these connectors would be mounted on the wall and you'd have to step over the motor to comfortably disconnect this connector.

Any concerns with LOTO?

They are great for lotto...the male end has a place to install a lock so it cannot be inserted into a receptacle.
As far as 110.26(A) workspace, there will be opinions on both sides and the only one that counts is the one your AHJ holds.

Years ago a boss wanted us to install something similar but only rated for 30 & 60 amps for numerous welding receptacle & equipment but they cost way too much. Ended up installing fused safety switches & twist lock receptacles.

Have you ever had issues with them regarding the workspace requirements not being met? or think there likely would be issues getting them to pass?
I do PLC control panels so this is outside of my wheelhouse...

we're a distributor for them so we get decent pricing, but they're still pricey tho! we're mainly looking to use them to hopefully eliminate any workspace requirement issues, as there going to be a 100hp motor on the floor inside of said workspace

You really need to run it by YOUR AHJ, as the opinions will vary. Some will only want it to be readily accessible and others will want the full 110.26(A) work space.

Yep. I’ve used them a lot over the years, I have experienced exactly that phenomenon. One AHJ accepts it as fine, another says nope, have to treat it as if it were a wall mounted disconnect switch. You never know.
