I’ve got a customer with 175 w Mercury Vapor moon lights. Transformers have gone bad he had a tree crew climb and replace the lamps themselves so that takes the lamp out of the equation. Issue is I’ve always been told a metal halide ballast would work in Mercury Vapor lamps, I tried a ballast and nothing. I’ve looked for a new transformer and haven’t been able to match the product number. These aren’t the pole light style lamps they look just like a 40c can light lamp. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

MV luminaires are obsolete. Ballasts are no longer available, but lamps are. Bypass the ballast and install a corn cob LED lamp.
Better yet, buy a new LED luminaire.
