Contact the manufacturer. They usually offer something for such a purpose.

There's lots of gyms out there with fluorescent lighting, especially the new T5 HOs.

I am going out on Monday to look at the job.

Evidently they are already existing... 30' in the air.
I don't plan on getting a lift to check tne manu. before I get the job.

Any suggestions there?

Sans a left, check for a set of as-builts. The fixture specs may be there.

Are you talking a grid ceiling at 30' up with drop in's ? Or free hanging fixtures? They make wrap arounds cages for free hanging and I think one time I did cages on drop in's with grid . I could make a few calls monday and find out where we got them from. Remember a safty line on those cages in case one gets loose during a vball game. Probably should figure something to confirm that the drop ins are also secured because often on the older buildings they are not, just dropped in.

You might check the orginal building documents.

Did the orginal install have a clear plastic jacket over each tube, or was
this application abandoned?

Is lamp protection only required in food prep areas?

Isn't every light in a gym a target any was ?

I thought of them right away when I was reading down through this thread. STI makes all sorts of guards for everything electrical. I use them pretty often for fire alarm pull stations.
I had remembered a brochure of theirs when reading this thread.
