Metal clamps around GEC

If you run a GEC without pipe or in a wireway and secure it with metal pipe clamps, would this be to code or would it violate the NEC and would it cause a choking effect if there was a fault?
 
I'm guessing he is talking about maybe using a metal conduit strap for securing the GEC.

As long as it does not completely encircle the conductor I don't think there will be any significant change of impedance on the conductor.
 
After reading the responses to the OP, I started looking around at the term.


GEC has a pretty thorough listing in the Index, I didn't see any refernce to this term, electrical choke. Is does exist in respects to combined usage of AC and DC service and component circuits at the electronic levels; the closet to the subject OP would be located at Article 250.94. Note (6) in respects to the proper clamp.

I'm sure there are other Articles but not when in respects to AC usuage only, IMO.
