Anyone know what could cause a fairly new (20 units) MH 70watt track fixture in a retail store to turn off and not come back on unless you turn off the power and back on.
The manufacturer told us that it's a lamp or ballast.
This happens occasionally to each fixture. The lamps have been changed and the problem persists.

The problem is that the fixtures are about a year in service and have been doing this from day one. They keep complaining about having to turn the circuit of and back on. I did not but these the corperate operations did.

The fixures are Amerilux. and Con-tec track.

I spoke to the manufaturer and the correct ballast is istalled.
the only thing I don't know about is if the thermal is the correct one.

Do you think it could be bad lamps if they restrike and last for days and weeks without issue?

I've read throught that booklet months ago.
I was looking for some real world experience.

If this were a ballast or a lamp I don't think that today it would work all day and then a week from now turn off and then the next day run all day and then next week turn off.

By the way the lamps are supposed to be good for 2-4 years.. This has been going on since day one.

If the sistuation happpend from day one until now .,

What I will suggest that why not get a line voltage monitor to read the dip/spikes on the system to see if it catch a spot where it affect the HID luminaire.

BTW AFAIK Most MH's can take up to 50% dip before arc exitisged { go out } with standard ballast set up but electronic it may take 30% or less dip to kick them out unless have sorta good votlage regulation in there.

Merci,Marc

They should be under warranty. I would talk to Amerlux and see what they will do for you.

I assume you have ruled all other posiblities such as voltage issues, connections, contactors, etc...

We have alot of Amerlux track heads (Aspect Vertical HID) in our facilities, the only problems we have had is when a lamp burns out and does not get replaced right away it will take out a magnetic ballast quickly.

Is the track head listed for use with Con-Tech track??
