Metal junction box shortage

Anyone experiencing a shortage in metal JB's (i.e. 4" square, 4" pancake, gem boxes, etc.) ? My supply houses seem to have them in stock but the shelves in the big box stores are empty. Just curious to know if my supply houses are going to run out soon or if the big box stores are shipping their stock to other areas that need them more.

I know materials have been hard to get but in the past it was the plastic boxes and devices. I have not heard about an issue with the metal boxes.

It may come to this if that is true. Just borrow the kids lunch box.

I was on a job last week where I needed a pancske. Both Blue and Orange were sold out. I remembered I had a few on a different job, so went there to get it

I had to go in an attic above a Mexican restaurant and found a strange JB. I have a pic somewhere but can't get to it now, but it was a tomato can turned upside down over a splice!

Type 1 metal enclosures are not required to be listed so a metal lunch box could well be code legal.

"Approval" is up to the AHJ. Here it could well depend on who's picture is on the box.

Are you sure about that? I can't imagine this could be compliant. Where is the info that states these enclosures don't need to be listed?

Guess I would have little choice as I have been called a mickey mouse inspector before.

I think Part III of Art 314 would preclude most lunch boxes
