we use the metal roof boots

Oatey makes a sweet lead lined roof boot you can shape to the contour of the roof. We get it from the plumbing supply house.

Someone once posted a link of a website that specialized in all different types of boots. Some of them looked super handy, retrofit boots, etc. You might be able to search and come up with the link.

Regardless of what you do, always try and come up in the flat part of the metal. It's not fun trying to seal a boot around a standing seam...

If there is a metal roofing supplyer near you you can get the boots made for metal roofs. They are made of neoprene with a bendable ring on the bottom if you hit a rib. Run a bead of caulk under the ring and screw it down. The boots that go over my vent stacks have been there for 15 years on my metal roof and have not had any problems.

metal roof

I use a boot type flashing it has a flexible base IE rubber/metal base.
The rest of the boot is rubber and you cut out the size of the conduit you use 1-1/4 - 3" and they have a larger model that would work for 4". These boot/flashings are designed for metal roofs they also fit between the ridges so no trimming.Just caulk and screw.
