Metal studs and romex

We are looking at some plans for a development that uses a prebuilt metal stud wall system.

Can romex be run in metal studs?
If so, what's the catch?

They make little plastic things. They fit in the holes of studs. Also they will fit in a punched hole from a electrical punch for walls. They snap right in. Nothing to it.

We used 3/8 one hole straps and stack-ums, mettalic stack-ums that bend over the wires. With sheet metal screws

We use snap in bushings. Some fit the factory whole in the metal stud, others you can drill a hole for and snap them in.

I use those for m.c. cable also, it makes it alot easier to pull through the studs.

I am not familiar with the part you are speaking of but would like to see it.

What about boxes?
Am I stuck with 4" squares?

Will a punch work on those thick support studs?

That depends on your arms and how thick the stud is.

Without a doubt there are thick enough studs that the punch will not touch and you will need a hole saw.

Types NM, NMC, or NMS cable shall be protected in accordance with 300.4 where installed through or parallel to framing members. Grommets used as required in 300.4(B)(1) shall remain in place and be listed for the purpose of cable protection.

300.4(B) Nonmetallic-Sheathed Cables and Electrical Nonmetallic Tubing Through Metal Framing Members.
(1) Nonmetallic-Sheathed Cable. In both exposed and concealed locations where nonmetallic-sheathed cables pass through either factory- or field-punched, cut, or drilled slots or holes in metal members, the cable shall be protected by listed bushings or listed grommets covering all metal edges that are securely fastened in the opening prior to installation of the cable.

Are stackums like Caddy CJ6's?

Yes-
You can use plastic boxes, too. The ones with the side mounting plastic brackets.
We used both metal and plastic boxes, depending on box fill.
