House is going through a hurricane damage remodel. Electrical inspector didn't like the looks of the service entrance setup which has been there for years. Cable enters the top of the meter box (located on house wall in the carport) from the carport roof mast then does a big sweeping loop out of the side of the meter base and back up through carport ceiling into the attic and over to the breakers. Inspector didn't like this big swoop of cable. A child could grab and swing on it.

Is there a meter base with knock outs that would allow the service cable to enter the top of the meter box (as it does now) and then come back out of the top of the box in conduit and head back up into the carport ceiling and onward through the attic to the breakers? Or, is there something in code prohibiting this? This would greatly clean up the look and protection of the service cable. I thought of going into the wall cavity alongside or behind the meter and then up to the attic, but that meets up with the main sidewall header. We do not want to compromise that. Sorry, apparently I'm too new to post a picture.
